The story of Onewheel Algarve Tour

I'm from the Algarve and I've lived here all my life, I grew up in Albufeira and it wasn't until I started riding Onewheel that I really got to know the city where I live.

My life was staying at home playing computer games, and now there is no dirt road or hidden road in Albufeira that I have not passed with the Onewheel, but don’t worry, I still play video games!

This sense of discovery for me is the true soul of Onewheel and it was with this exploration mindset that I thought "What if I crossed the Algarve in a Onewheel?" I would certainly find unimaginable places and landscapes, and I can confirm that in all the times I made this trip, every year since 2019, that’s exactly what happened.

The Onewheel Algarve Tour started as a personal project, and with an idea... The idea that I can push both onewheel and myself to the limits.

But at the time it was not that common for someone to drain the entire charge in a Onewheel XR battery at once, and this trip requires around fifteen charges, this situation alone made the adventure very hard to do.

The first two times were especially difficult for since I made the trip alone and completely discovering the paths without knowing if I would be able to make it to the next point and charge there. In the end, every time I arrived at a hidden place, at an unbelievable view, all the effort and all the physical and psychological difficulties were completely worth it! Then on the 3rd time I had the pleasure of doing the Tour with 11 other onewheelers and the experience was even better. The 4th time we were 28 riders, and the 5th we reached 60 people from 20 different countries!!!

When I first arrived at Cabo de São Vicente Lighthouse, completely worn out, almost crying from the emotion I felt at the time and also from the pain I had in my whole body, and I saw that magnificent sunset, I decided right away that this is an experience that is worth everything, no matter what happens I'll do it again. Next year and the year after that, I'm going to invite more people because the only thing better than doing the Onewheel Algarve Tour alone, is doing it together with friends! And so this project was born.
